PowerFlex Road, Heritage and Black Series Explained
Bushes are one of the most highly stressed components fitted to a car. They undergo enormous strain, in the most arduous of conditions with no maintenance or lubrication. Conventional rubber bushes deteriorate with age allowing movement of suspension components and geometry. This can cause tyre wear, braking instability, poor handling and engine deflection.
Powerflex Suspension Bushes:
- Improve your car's road holding and chassis performance
- Allow your suspension to function efficiently
- Tyres have increased road contact at all times
- Improved safety and performance
- Have the same noise absorption as rubber bushes
- Normally no increase in vibration / harshness through the car
Powerflex Bushes are made from a technologically advanced polyurethane plastic compound impervious to petrol and vehicle oil, which doesn't age or perish and has a longer working life - up to 3-4 times that of conventional rubber bushes. In addition this compound overcomes the common problem associated with harder bushes which is increased noise. By correct engineering the polyurethane compound bushes can be made 25-30% stiffer than rubber bushes, but with exactly the same noise absorption properties. Unlike old technology Poly bushes any increase in vibration / harshness felt through the vehicle is normally undetectable.
Time to do some sums…
Polyurethane has been with us as a specialised plastic for some thirty years. However recent advances have now made it possible to engineer very special properties into this exciting material. Suspension bushes are some of the most highly stressed components fitted to a motor car. They undergo enormous strains and in the most arduous of conditions with no maintenance or lubrication.
The material they are manufactured from is a rubber compound containing natural products which deteriorate with age. It becomes softer and more pliable, resisting the forces placed on it less and less. Therefore allowing more and more movement of suspension components and offering less and less control over the suspension geometry. This in turn causes accelerated tyre wear, braking instability and poor handling. This is the single biggest reason you can instantly tell the difference driving a three year old car compared to a showroom new one. However even new cars will benefit from POWERFLEX bushes because of their superior design they offer much more effective control of the suspension components to a much greater extent than normal rubber items.
POWERFLEX for prolonged tyre life. With the technological advances in this material it has been possible to overcome the common problem associated with harder bushes which is increased noise. By correctly engineering the polyurethane compound, bushes can be made 25-30% stiffer than new rubber items but with exactly the same noise absorbing properties.
- POWERFLEX bushes make sense
- POWERFLEX for improved performance
- POWERFLEX for increased safety
POWERFLEX Heritage Collection bushes are manufactured using modern day materials with properties biased for the road. These dark grey coloured bushes will improve any collector’s car, whilst retaining the same standard appearance of a rubber bush.
Using the same tried and tested durometer materials, however, some bushes will now be coloured a subtle ‘Classic’ Dark Grey to be more in keeping with the vehicles they are listed for.
Simply put, road biased, modern-day materials to enhance the performance, comfort and safety of the modern classic car.
POWERFLEX Black Series bushes are manufactured using our Black 95 Shore A compound to provide maximum control of chassis geometry. They are designed for the Track, ready to Race and are engineered to be the best.
