This one blog is summarising 2 Video's of our Audi A5 3.0 TDI Project! Part 14 and 14.2.
Back in Part 8 we travelled over to John Sleath Race Cars to carry out a series of upgrades on our car whilst on the dyno, taking it from 228bhp - 340bhp in the same day.
Since then a lot has been happening, and not just with the car...
We have recently purchased our own 4WD Dyno Dynamics rolling road. This is something we have had planned for a while but when one came up at the right money we could not r
Following on from the Trackday Championship Blog, we were also competing in the MSV Trackday Trophy.
The qualifying session was in the morning a few hours after the TDC session. I went out first, did the 3 mandatory laps, punched in a decent time (putting us P2 behind the Class C Lotus Elise of J & B Tucker with a 1:21.503) and then pulled into the pits to get Ryan out, since he had not driven the car all day.
Ryan went out and did some very consistent times, but was unable to improve our posi
With 2019 in full swing, we prepared our Ibiza TDI for the new racing season. The spec didn't really change that much from what we developed by the end of last year, we have some new 343mm 6 Pot Front Brakes and red paint on the front end finally!
After competing in a few races of the MSV Trackday Championship last year with a mixed bag of results, with a 5th place at Brands Hatch GP and almost a 2nd Place at Silverstone, we decided to commit to the full season. We are also going to run in some
We are preparing to enter the
Birkett Six-Hour Relay Race on October 26th 2019 at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.
The race was featured on BBCs
Top Gear and Extra Gear on 10 Mar 2019 and is available on iPlayer if you want to check it out!
This is a Team Relay Race, the object being to complete as many laps as possible using only the cars and drivers entered in the team. Cars may go out any number of times and in any order.
We are looking for a couple of Drivers
As we plan to run our A5 on the track and have a trip to Spa and the Nurburgring planned in a few weeks time, we thought it wise to install at least a half roll cage, and from past track car experience, we wanted bucket seats and harnesses too to stops us sliding around!
We had a look online and nothing that was easily obtainable (most cages were in the USA) or reasonably priced, so we decided to speak to Matt at Slide Motorsport, as they made the cage in our BMW.
After a bit of discussion we
Some subscribers to our YouTube channel will have already watched the 2 part series on tuning the latest 2.0 engine VW have to offer
We find the Mk7 / MQB Platform 184 models with the CUNA or CUNA Engine code usually produce between 170 and 180bhp on our dyno in standard form. The GTD in the videos made 170bhp when flashed back to stock, 177bhp on an updated stock file, 188bhp with previous old tune that quoted 230bhp and then 209bhp with our custom r
We have posted many Blogs in the past, showing videos and images from our Racelogic VBOX HD2, but figured it would be a good idea to explain how we use the system in pursuit of faster lap times.
Check out our blog on Using a Racelogic VBOX HD2 for Tyre Testing to see how we use the VBOX when comparing different tyres.
This time, we are concentrating on Driving Technique. A saying someone told me, which I think is quite true:'When looking to shave time off your laps, you can find hundredths of
On first inspection of our Audi A5 we found some excessive play in the front drive flange cup. We initially suspected bearing wear but after removing the gearbox we found the problem to be something else...
Whilst the gearbox was out and the fact it wasn't a 2 minute job to do so, we also decided to replace the Flywheel for a new unit. Another issue that we addressed at the same time was oil starvation causing clutch slip. Under hard acceleration oil is pushed to the back of the gearbox and awa
We have posted many Blogs in the past, showing videos and images from our Racelogic VBOX HD2, but figured it would be a good idea to explain how we use the system in pursuit of faster lap times.Other than changing the driver (which can make a huge difference!), another important factor is the Tyre choice.
We currently race in the MSV Trackday Championship and MSV Trackday Trophy. In the TDC, Tyres must be Toyo R888R (GG Compound) or R888R, whereas in the TDT, they can be from the Motorspor
