MST Performance
MST Performance has been developing and manufacturing performance air intake systems in Taiwan since 2011. Founded by a car enthusiast looking to improve the performance of his own car, MST has grown into a recognised manufacturer of aftermarket induction systems.
Their intake kits are developed with performance and durability in mind, with dyno and road testing used throughout the development process.

What Is MST Performance?
MST Performance is a Taiwanese manufacturer specialising in performance intake systems, induction kits, intake pipes and other air intake components. Founded in 2011 by a car enthusiast looking to improve the intake setup on his own vehicle, MST has continued to develop vehicle-specific systems designed around the requirements and packaging of each application rather than relying on universal intake designs.
MST intake systems are designed to improve the airflow path into the engine by replacing or improving restrictive factory components. Depending on the application and level of tuning, this can help improve airflow and throttle response while providing additional intake and turbo noise under load.
For VAG applications, MST offers intake components covering a range of Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Skoda models, making them a suitable option for both standard vehicles and cars running further performance upgrades.
Darkside supplies MST Performance intake components for selected manufacturers, including:
- Volkswagen
- Audi
- BMW
- SEAT
- Škoda
As with any intake upgrade, the benefit will depend on the engine, existing hardware, and level of tuning. On higher-output setups, improving restrictions before the turbo can become increasingly important as airflow demand increases.
MST Performance Intake and Induction Kits
Factory intake systems are designed around a number of compromises, including packaging, noise levels, manufacturing cost, and filtration requirements. On tuned engines, these restrictions can become more noticeable as airflow demand increases.
MST Performance induction kits replace restrictive sections of the standard intake system with components designed to improve airflow into the engine and turbocharger. Reducing restrictions on the intake side can help the turbo draw air more efficiently, particularly on engines running increased boost or further performance upgrades. MST systems can also increase intake and turbocharger noise compared with the standard airbox, although the exact result will depend on the engine and intake design.

MST Performance FAQs
Do I need a remap with an MST Performance induction kit?
In most cases, an MST Performance induction kit can be fitted to a standard VAG vehicle without requiring an ECU remap.
The intake is designed to reduce restriction and improve airflow into the engine or turbocharger, so it can be used as a standalone upgrade. On tuned cars, an upgraded intake can become more beneficial as boost pressure and airflow demand increase.
If your VAG or BMW is already modified, or you are unsure whether an MST intake is suitable for your setup, get in touch with us with your engine, turbo and current modifications.
Do MST Performance induction kits fit VAG diesel engines?
MST Performance produces intake components for a range of Petrol and Diesel Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, SEAT and Škoda applications, although availability depends on the specific engine and vehicle.
For tuned VAG / BMW diesel engines, increasing airflow is essential to making good power especially when running Hybrid or Larger Turbos, particularly where the standard intake becomes a restriction.
Check the individual MST Performance product listing for confirmed fitment or contact us with your vehicle and engine details if you are unsure.
What is the difference between an MST Performance intake and a cold air intake?
A cold air intake is designed to supply the engine with cooler air while reducing restriction through the standard intake system. Depending on the application, an MST Performance intake kit can include a high-flow air filter, larger intake pipework, heat shielding, an enclosed airbox, and a dedicated cold-air feed.
Rather than relying on one universal design, MST develops its induction kits around the engine bay and intake layout of each application. On turbocharged VAG engines, improving the intake route before the turbo can be particularly useful on tuned setups where airflow demand is higher.
