Full Stack Developer (PHP & MySQL + Front End)

Job Purpose

This role would suit an experienced web or application developer who enjoys technical challenges and is eager to explore new technologies and are able to express technical ideas clearly.

The main area of the Darkside Developments business is our successful E-Commerce website which turns over a substantial sum each year, but this is hosted on a cloud platform so there is very little maintenance of the actual website. The main bulk of the role will be in maintaining and improving our bespoke, in house and back end systems for order management, production and workflow.

You will need to be able to work effectively as part of a close knit team, be highly motivated and organised with great attention to detail and an ambitious nature. Beyond coding ability, an organised approach to work is crucial so functional requests are properly managed and deadlines met.

There is a genuine opportunity to grow within a company where your efforts will be not only noticed but rewarded. We are not expecting someone to have an expert knowledge of all the Tech Stack, but a willingness to learn (and great Google-Fu) is a must.

Work Location

This role is based at our facility near Barnsley, commutable from Sheffield and Leeds and with great transport links to the M1 and A1.

Turbo Technician

Job Purpose

The Turbo Technician will be responsible for;

  • Strip and assess turbochargers of various sizes / Turbo diagnostics
  • Complete reports on the condition of turbochargers·
  • Fully process and clean components
  • Carry out basic machining to parts (additional training will be given)
  • Turbo Repair and rebuild
  • Flow Testing - G3-Min-Flow (Power)
  • Balancing - CIMAT VSR Twin

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check Daily Task List - Ensure task list’s are checked daily and regular to maintain direction and consistency whilst minimising priority errors and maximising productivity. Ensure all completed jobs are ticked off and cleared regularly and daily once complete.
  • Wide range of duties include - Research and Development work turbochargers for company owned development vehicles. Track Car and Drag Car.
  • Liaise with the Workshop Service Manager - For priority on any workshop jobs requiring turbocharger builds or repairs.
  • Liaise with the Fabrication Unit and Lead Fabricator - To schedule and compressore housing welding or fabrication required.
  • Liaise with the Lead Powertrain Calibration and Development Engineer - To work with the Powertrain Calibration and Development Engineer when testing any new turbocharger hybrids. Fitting any form of performance enhancing hardware that will require a software upgrade to operate to their full potential. All levels of hardware upgrades need to be disclosed, feedback to the Powertrain Calibration and Development Engineer and support given if any form of insight can be shared to produce the best possible outcome for the customer. To develop itinerary and products. Feedback on current software packages with the aim to develop new lines currently being tested.
  • Liaise with the Dispatch manager - To ensure order fulfilment is met on a daily basis and stock levels are maintained. This will require the input of components to the stock system and implementation of build processes. Understanding of Linnworks order management and our in house CRM system will be essential, training provided.

Job Purpose

This is a varied role, but managing customer communications is the chief responsibility of a Customer Service Advisor. Interacting directly with potential, new and existing customers. Work to provide quality customer service, while increasing company revenues through increased sales. Tasks can be usually challenging, involving high demand situations and constant job stressors. Race Mechanic

Job Purpose

The Race Car Technician will maintain the fleet of Darkside Developments Race and Track Cars. Liaising with the Workshop Service Manager to ensure all vehicles are prepared to the highest standard in time for each race meeting. To do this you will also work closely with Tuning, Fabrication, Parts and Dispatch departments to ensure fluidity towards achieving our goal of successive victories.

Duties and Responsibilities

Workshop Mechanic

Job Purpose

The Workshop Technician will maintain the daily functionality of the Darkside Developments Service Workshop. Liaising with the Workshop Controller to ensure daily workflows and targets are achieved. To do this you will also work closely with Fabrication and Parts and Dispatch departments to ensure fluidity towards achieving our goal of exceptional customer service.

Role Specifics

Salary £28,000 - £36,000 (Depending on Experience)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check the daily task list

  • All levels of interval services to VWG and BMW vehicles, first service to full timing belt service.

  • All levels of MOT work, includes brake disc and pads, clutches and flywheels, turbos and intercoolers, exhausts, suspension springs and dampers, wheel bearings and drivetrain supports and bushes. 

  • Full fitment of Darkside Development upgraded turbo kits and accessories.

  • Research and Development work on company owned vehicles. Track Car and Drag Car. Duties will include working with original OEM specifications software and upgraded hardware to working with full stand alone units and custom hardware. Leading the way in the diesel performance tuning industry.

  • To work with the Powertrain Calibration and Development Engineer when fitting a “Darkside Customer Turbo Kit” or any form of performance enhancing hardware that will require a software upgrade to operate to their full potential. All levels of hardware upgrades need to be disclosed, feedback to the Powertrain Calibration and Development Engineer and support given if any form of insight can be shared to produce the best possible outcome for the customer.

Dispatch Operative / Parts Person

Job Purpose

The Dispatch Operative / Parts Person will maintain the daily functionality of the Darkside Developments Parts and Dispatch Department. Liaising with the Dispatch Manager to ensure daily workflows and targets are achieved. To do this you will also work closely with Fabrication and Service Workshop departments to ensure fluidity towards achieving our goal of exceptional customer service.

Role Specifics

  • Salary £18,000 - £23,000 (Depending on Experience)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check the daily task list.
    • Ensure task list’s are checked daily and regular to maintain direction and consistency whilst minimise priority errors and maximising productivity.
    • Ensure all completed jobs are ticked off and cleared regularly and daily once complete.
  • Pick and pack all small orders.
    • Ensure all small orders are picked all together at once. Maintains efficiency and speed and allows for effective packing.
  • Pick and pack all large orders.
    • Ensure all large orders are picked effectively, taking into account bin locations and item size. Maintains efficiency and speed and allows for effective packing.
  • Dispatching completed orders.
    • After items are picked and packed make sure all items are placed in relevant dispatch cages relating to the courier service used.
  • Non-dispatched uncompleted orders.
    • After items are picked and packed make sure items not available are clearly marked and the Lead Dispatch Manager is made aware. Uncomplete orders then need to be shelved on the “Awaiting Parts” shelf.
  • Sign all “Goods In” and put in the right location within the parts department.
    • Ensure all inbound goods are signed in, accounted for and store away effectively in the right location.
  • Replenish empty shelves, using stored items.
    • Ensure all stock stored on site is managed and maintained.
  • Pick and supply items for Fabrication/Service Workshops.
    • Maintain required stock for both the Fabrication Workshop and Service Workshop.
  • Check general upkeep and organisation of the parts department.
    • Make sure your workspace is clean and tidy at all times.
  • Couriers and Deliveries - Royal Mail and DHL.
    • Ensure all cages and completed orders are ready for collection at the relevant collection times.
  • General Maintenance.
    • Work towards continual process improvements. Highlight any issues and suggest any improvements.
