This Dual Mass Flywheel contains a speed-adaptive mass damper to reduce vibrations towards the transmission. When the engine is running the centrifugal force brings the masses of the speed-adaptive mass damper in to the right position. Since the masses move freely when not moving, loud rattling may occur during transport or installation of the flywheel. This noice is due to the design and does not constitute a quality defect.
