SRS Automotive 2.0 TDI CR DSG 4Motion Caddy Race Van Build
It has been a long time coming, we finally managed to get all the photos organised for the build of the SRS Automotive Caddy, which is a 2.0 16v CR with a DQ500 DSG Gearbox and 4-Motion.
When we first built the Caddy back in 2011, it was a 2.0 BKD with a GTB1756VK, pushing 220bhp (165kW) & 350Ft/lbs (475Nm), which is the spec we took it down the strip at Santa Pod in April 2012, where it did a 15.7s @ 89.25mph. Not bad to say it was being used to bring all the spares down!
Stef at SRS Automotive bought the van from us a fair old while ago, and eventually was bored of the power, and as everyone does, wanted more!
We then rebuilt the engine and fitted a GTB2566VK and Race Injectors, so it was pushing 340bhp (254kW) & 435Ft/lbs (590Nm). This came in handy when our 330D was out of action when we were at a trackday at the Silverstone GP Circuit back in December 2016. We quickly emptied all the spares out of the back and took it for a thrash against some Ferrari's!
It stayed like that until late 2017 when Stef had a wild idea for a drivetrain conversion!
There are 100s of images, we we have split the Blogs up into sections. There is not much in the way of writing, we prefer to let the photos do the talking! The CR 4 Motion build started in September 2017 and it is still a work in progress, as are all projects!
Next step is the full engine build and well over 300bhp, watch this space!
