It has been a long time coming, we finally managed to get all the photos organised for the build of the SRS Automotive Caddy, which is a 2.0 16v CR with a DQ500 DSG Gearbox and 4-Motion. When we first built the Caddy back in 2011, it was a 2.0 BKD with a GTB1756VK, pushing 220bhp (165kW) & 350Ft/lbs (475Nm), which is the spec we took it down the strip at Santa Pod in April 2012, where it did a 15.7s @ 89.25mph. The M57 is a water-cooled and turbocharged inline six cylinder diesel engine with common-rail injection. The Caddy had been off the road due to a leak on the A3 fuel tank that was originally used, so we decided to make an alloy tank for it.I didn't really want to do this originally as I like the idea of it looking as factory as possible underneath but this actually turned out pretty well. We started off in CAD (cardboard aided design) to make sure we could get the largest possible tank without it fouling anything or sitting too low. What do all race cars need? Aero! We started with a Front Splitter. This still needs work but seems to do what's intended as the bumper started to pull away from the wing after a few laps at VAG Tuner, so I think I might need to add something between the wing & bumper to stop this happening again. A month after Inters we were at Donington for VAG Tuner Live 2018. The only real changes, aside from a working braking system, were the Aero mods. We didn’t think we had tested the chassis enough to start pushing the Engine any further. Despite only having ~230bhp, the van performed brilliantly. Once the Chassis was done, we moved on to the interior, and got all the cage painted! With the cage painted and all dry, on to the fiddly and time consuming interior refit! I wanted to fit as much as possible with it being my daily driver, so we cut some Touran door cards around the cage and flocked the top to match the dash.
