What is RamAir?
RamAir specialises in air filtration to boost your car's performance. Their entire process remains in the UK, from manufacturing to fabrication, in developing their induction kits and replacement air filters. With a wide focus on VAG vehicles, they apply their knowledge gained from unique data and insights from motorsport testing, where they supply filtration systems for championships from Formula 1 to WRC. What is a RamAir Intake System and How Does It Work?
RamAir intake system / induction kits are performance upgrades that often replace the factory airbox and restrictive components with a high-flow air filter and improved pipework. Its purpose is to help the engine draw in air more efficiently while also creating a sportier induction sound.
It works by reducing airflow restrictions before the engine or turbocharger. Depending on the vehicle, a Ramair system may also include a heat shield or enclosed filter housing to help protect the intake from hot engine-bay air keeping the intake air temperatures down.
By improving airflow, a Ramair intake can help deliver sharper throttle response, increased induction and turbo sound, and better support for tuned or remapped engines.

“You cannot just fit the biggest cone filter that will squeeze into the engine bay and call it an induction kit. The size of the filter, where it sits, and how the air gets to it all matter. A lot of the diesel VAG cars we work on have never had much support from the intake manufacturers. When there is nothing available, we design the pipework and heat shields ourselves, then work with RamAir to get a filter that suits the space and the airflow we need.

What are the benefits of a RamAir induction kit?
A RamAir kit can provide a less restrictive airflow route, reduced IAT’s (Intake Air Temps), increased induction sound and a reusable filter. On a tuned diesel, it may also support the additional airflow needed by a larger turbo or hybrid setup.
Can a RamAir filter be cleaned and reused?
Yes, many RamAir performance filters are designed to be cleaned and reused. The cleaning method depends on the filter type, so it is important to use the RamAir Cleaning Kit and follow the maintenance instructions supplied with it. Using the wrong cleaner or oil can damage the filter material or affect how it performs.
