OIL COOLERS & RADIATOR - AUDI A5 3.0 TDI QUATTRO PROJECT
Cooling is essential, especially on track!
In Part 15 of this series we fit our in house developed engine and gearbox oil coolers as well as a custom larger radiator in preparation for the Nurburgring!
Knowing from past track experience that cooling is vital we did not want to take any chances with this engine. The 3.0 TDIs run a 95c Thermostat from the factory, so we set about modding a brand new one to open closer to 80c, and while the front end was stripped down it made sense that all of th

OUR NEW 4WD DYNO + CP3 HPFP + BIG INJECTORS + AN UNEXPECTED PROBLEM - AUDI A5 3.0 TDI QUATTRO PROJECT
This one blog is summarising 2 Video's of our Audi A5 3.0 TDI Project! Part 14 and 14.2.
Back in Part 8 we travelled over to John Sleath Race Cars to carry out a series of upgrades on our car whilst on the dyno, taking it from 228bhp - 340bhp in the same day.
Since then a lot has been happening, and not just with the car...
We have recently purchased our own 4WD Dyno Dynamics rolling road. This is something we have had planned for a while but when one came up at the right money we could not r

V6 TDI CUSTOM EXHAUST! - AUDI A5 3.0 TDI QUATTRO PROJECT
Part 5 of our A5 BuildWe are now on to the Exhaust System. This is a common modification our customers do, both from a performance, aesthetic and acoustic perspective.A quick look at the stock exhaust, it is 65mm (~2.5") to 55mm (~2.15") and has 2 small boxes right at the back, but is still pretty quiet as the DPF is also a large silencer. It also has twin 3" Rolled Slash Cut Tips as standard. The standard grade of stainless is very poor and we see a lot of cars with rusty ex

Rockingham ISSC - 30th September 2018 - MSV Trackday Trophy Race
Round 6 of the MSV Trackday Trophy on Sunday 30th September 2018 in our Ibiza took us to Rockingham in Corby, Northamptonshire
We were testing on the Friday, which I wrote about here. After scratching our heads trying to work out why tyre temps were so crazy, we decided to remove the Gurneys on the front bumper. These were fitted to reduce airflow over the tyres, as the turbulence is bad for Aerodynamics. However, we thought that the benefit of getting air over the tyres would be greater tha

VW Action 2018 - Santa Pod Raceway - 31/08/2018 - 02/09/2018
The end of the summer brought us to one of the biggest VAG Shows at
Santa Pod Raceway in Northampton, VW Action 2018.
VW Action has always been a great show for us, both from a spectator perspective and for results. It was where we did our best time in the
Arosa last year, a 9.7224s @ 146.74mph and Jerome also set his quickest time of 11.183 @ 121.88mph in his Ibiza, so we had high hopes for both cars performing well this year.

Brands Hatch GP - 18th August 2018 - Round 5 - MSV Trackday Championship
After
Round 3 and the MSV Extra Race at Silverstone back in June, we missed Round 4 at Oulton Park due to a clash of calendars (with the Goodwood Festival of Speed - a must for any petrol or diesel head!), which meant our next race was Round 5 at the fast and flowing Brands Hatch GP Circuit.
The format was changed slightly for this race from the norm, with Classes S and A being mixed in with our Class B and the C & Ds due to the increased circuit limit and packed schedule.

Reading a Dyno Graph
Before Reading this, please take a look at our ‘Dynos - What to know’ Blog - HERE
Many people think a dyno is a tool for measuring peak power and little else - while this is the figure over which many pub conversations are won or lost, the peak power itself is the least important and least relevant part of the graph. This article should help you understand more about dyno testing, what you can tell from a graph, and crucially, what a graph doesn’t tell you.
To the trained eye, a d

Silverstone National - 23rd June 2018 - Round 3 - MSV Trackday Championship
After an eventful first time racing in the Ibiza at Donington 15th April 2018, which you can read about here, we missed the 2nd round of the MSV Trackday Championship at Snetterton so we could improve the car as planned, and rejoined the action at Silverstone.
More info about the TDC can be found on their website -

Our Ibiza is in Class B. The regulations for the series are reasonably relaxed, so that most cars that have already been
